Network Usage Reporting

Network Usage Reporting with SessionWall

Sessionwall includes a number of predefined reports reflecting network usage and definitions. You can generate these reports using current data or according to historical data. When you request a network usage report, you can define a specific time range, stations and other options to fine-tune the report. After choosing a report and defining the report parameters, you can view the usage report on screen, print the report, send the report as Email or save the report to disk using several formats.

Network Usage Report Types

SessionWall’s reports provide detailed information on specific network activities and on overall network usage of specific protocols. These reports include:

bulletSummary Reports
This category includes reports summarizing certain activities on the network.
bulletCommon Reports
This category includes general network usage reports, reports over time and reports reflecting security violations.
bulletWeb Surfing Reports
This category includes reports on Web activity, reports about URL access and reports about URL categories.
bulletProtocol Traffic Reports
Each group of protocols has its own set of reports showing the volume of traffic over a certain period of time and the most active users.
bulletEvents Reports
This group includes reports of logged and blocked events.
bulletDefinitions Reports
This group of network usage reports includes reports about program definitions, e.g. reports on network objects, actions and rule types.

Saving Data for Report Generation

You can base a report on the snapshot or on the statistics database. The statistics database is an internal database in which Sessionwall stores statistical information at predefined time intervals (see Settings > Options > Advanced). A snapshot file contains all the logged data and the blocked data at the time the snapshot was taken. Sessionwall can automatically take a snapshot, or you can take a snapshot manually.

Sessionwall has been renamed eTrust Intrusion Detection and is now considered to be part of the eTrust suite of eBusiness security products. To learn more about eTrust Audit and its components and features, please visit our web site dedicated to eTrust by clicking on the button below.
