Email Content Security with Sessionwall
Sessionwall has the ability to electronically scan email content, log and then
provide the authorized Sessionwall administrator with a view of the email content.
Email Content Monitoring
Email technology is being used by more and more
organizations and individuals to convey information, and is rapidly replacing the more
traditional means of communication. Today, email messages can even be used in courts of
law. One of the most serious problems that can occur because of widespread email usage is
the sending of inappropriate and harassing material. With Sessionwall, you can set filters
that will assist you in making sure that workers wont misuse your companys
email facilities. For example, you can set filters to look for email content that contains
messages to or from your competitors, messages containing confidential information and
messages that contain offensive language. You can also use filters to search for messages
being retrieved by local users from external servers, and messages sent to an external
server by a local user.
Virus Detection and Active Email Content
By allowing personnel to send and receive
email messages over the corporate network, you are exposing your network to possible
viruses and active components that could affect the way your network functions. To protect
your network from this type of abuse, but still allow personnel to use email functions,
you can have Sessionwall check all incoming and outgoing email content for viruses, Java applets and other active
components. When these components are detected, Sessionwall immediately sends an alert.
The alert message includes details on the virus or active component and suggestions on how
to react.
Email Content Monitoring and Relevant Rules Definition
By default, Sessionwall logs all incoming and
outgoing email messages, enabling you to view the actual content of the messages. You can
also define rules to log or block details of email messages from or to specific stations
and messages that contain certain strings of text e.g. abusive language.
Sessionwall as a Litigation Avoidance Tool
Sending inappropriate material in
email messages can result in a hostile work environment and, in severe cases, this could
be considered as harassment and could even result in legal action. To avoid these types of
instances, you can monitor email content for specific messages.
Furthermore, Sessionwall encrypts and signs each log file,
thus protecting the logs from unauthorized eyes and ensuring file integrity in the event
of a court case. Authorized administrators can also selectively delete unneeded log
content according to time, protocol or client.
