The Infinite InterChange
Lotus Notes gateway lets
Lotus Notes and Lotus Notes users
exchange e-mail with the Internet. To use the Infinite InterChange Lotus Notes
gateway, you
must define a post office in Notes. The Interchange Notes gateway will exchange messages with
Lotus Notes through this post office. Because this post office functions as a gateway between
Lotus Notes and InterChange, we call this post office a gateway post
office. The Interchange Lotus Notes gateway will send all inbound Internet messages to this
gateway post office, and Lotus Notes will send all outbound Internet messages to this gateway
post office.
You must create a gateway post office in each
Lotus Notes post office that will communicate directly with the InterChange
Lotus Notes gateway.
Each post office that communicates directly with InterChange requires a unique
domain name registered with
your Internet service provider or domain name services provider.
Downstream post
offices do not require a gateway post office.
Authorized Users
The Lotus Notes
gateway maintains a list of authorized
users. By default, Infinite InterChange authorizes users automatically when they send a
message to the Lotus Notes gateway. However, you may restrict which users can send messages
through the Lotus Notes gateway.
Virus Scan
The Lotus Notes
gateway lets you use a command-line
operated virus scanner,
such as McAfees VirusScan, to scan inbound and outbound attachments
for viruses.
Multiple Gateways
Each Infinite InterChange email gateway must use a
unique domain name. For example, if your network uses the Lotus Notes
gateway and the SMF
gateway, you must assign different domain names to those gateways. One email gateway may
use the Infinite InterChange host name as its domain name.
