Electronic burst spool files
Spool files can be 'read' by NetSpool*400 and burst into separate sections for email delivery to different addresses. Two levels of selection parameters can be specified, e.g. Territory and Sales Rep can be used to result in all reports being emailed to a sales manager for their territory and each Sales Reps reports being sent to their specific e- mail address. This significant facility enables you to automate much of your report distribution to multiple addresses without changing your spool file reports.
Launch with PC programs:
NetSpool*400 enables you to assign a specific name to a spool file that is being sent. This allows it to be launched by the PC program that is associated with the file extension used in the name. For example, xxxxx.doc files would be automatically launched with Microsoft Word, etc. Format control such as line length, page size, etc. needs to be established so that the received file has maximum usability.
Pagination and line control
NetSpool*400 reads the spool file characteristics and re-creates the pagination and line control characters in a form that can be used by PC based systems.
Email integration
NetSpool*400 can send spool files to any LAN based email system such as Microsoft Mail, Exchange, cc:Mail, GroupWise, etc. using NetMail PC Gateway or the AS400 SMTP capabilities. Spool files can be emailed to Internet addresses or to e- mail integrated stand alone PCs.
